Located
just 3/4 of a mile from the downtown area, Calhoun Campground is named
in memory of lifelong Beaverton resident and dedicated city employee, Glen
C. Calhoun. The area's newest facility, this 40-acre campground in the
woods is nestled along the bountiful backwaters of Ross Lake, at the mouth
of the South Branch of the Tobacco River.
Offering the camper
all modern facilities including electricity, hot showers, sanitation station,
handicap accessible fishing and boating dock, playground, picnic pavilion
and much more, Calhoun Campground is a real gem, opened in 1994.
You can reserve
your campsite ahead of time at no charge by calling or writing the Calhoun
Campground Office during regular camping season, May 1 - Nov. 1. Write

| Ross Lake Park, located alongside M-18, is just north of the downtown
area. Located 3/4 of a mile by the water of Calhoun Campground, Ross Lake
park offers the summer enthusiast great summer fun. Offering a boat launch,
beach for swimming, beach volleyvall court, picnic pavilions, playground,
restrooms and more, Ross Lake Park is the perfect place to relax and enjoy
a warm summer breeze off the Lake, host a reunion or picnic or watch the
professional water activities or fireworks, one of mid-Michigan's largest,
during the annual Fourth of July Celebration.
